Get Involved

BEES (Bradford Environmental Education Service) has a Social Enterprise called ‘Shaping Spaces’.  Offering high quality conservation, landscaping and maintenance services, we work on contracts to improve green spaces for the benefit of public, business and wildlife.  Our services include the creation of wild flower areas and wildlife habitats, path building and maintenance, construction of raised beds, fences and steps, and much more.  If you have a green space you wish to improve, contact us to discuss your requirements.

Youth Programme

If you are aged 16-25 years old and are not in employment, education or training, our Shaping Spaces youth programme could be just what you are looking for.  The programme runs two days per week (Wednesday and Thursday) for 12 weeks and is based at Culture Fusion Building on Thornton Road.  Days run from 10.00am to 3.30pm.  We go out on Wednesdays to do practical tasks in various outdoor sites around Bradford, and run workshops on Thursdays at Culture Fusion.  No experience is necessary as we give on-the-job training and will support participants learning to maximise their experience with us. We will provide waterproof clothing, boots and gloves so no financial outlay should be required. We can also help with travel expenses.

Places are limited on the programme so we can offer high quality training and support tailored to your individual needs. The course is designed to help you increase your skills and confidence whilst supporting you in overcoming some of the obstacles to achieving your potential. Our aim is that by the end of the 12 weeks each you should be more confident, have a more positive outlook and have moved towards getting a job or doing further education or training. You will also be offered the opportunity to do a Level 1 qualification in horticulture.

Volunteers

Our contract work has the added value that people who are unemployed, or have time on their hands, can volunteer with us.  Volunteers have the opportunity to work alongside our experienced staff to learn new skills, gain work experience and self confidence leading to increased employment and training opportunities.

Community

We work with community members, groups and organisations to agree what improvements will be made to which locations in their area, ensuring community involvement at every stage.
